A SA title apiece for Charl and Kyle

There was a little history to celebrate at the South African Rotax Max Challenge Karting Championships on Sunday when Cape Town brothers brothers Charl and Kyle Visser did the double to secure the respective high school Junior Max and primary school Mini Max titles respectively.

Charl and Kyle have so qualified to represent the South African team in their classes at the December 1 Rotax Max World Finals in Brazil after stealing the show at Zwartkops as they delivered a unique sibling double championship with seven wins out of their eight races on the day.

Charl arrived at Zwartkops ahead in the high school Junior Max championship race and despite a slow start as he took fourth in the opening heat before going on to take the second, third and fourth races on the trot to secure the title from the front. “Today is a dream come true,” Charl admitted.

“Qualifying was difficult but we came back strong to win three races and take the title today “Not only have I won the Junior Max championship but my little brother Kyle has won the Mini Max title too — we are so proud — thanks so much to my dad, my man Zefrey Ngobeni and the whole Charl Electrical Engineering team for a brilliant effort — we feel on top of the world!”

Baby brother Kyle Visser went to Zwartkops lying second in the primary school Mini Max title race, but he delivered the perfect result to win four straight races and come away as South African champion. “We had such good pace on Saturday — we broke the lap record on the way to top my first national championship and Charl and me are both 2018 South African champions. We will race together for South Africa in the World Finals — I just can’t wait!

“What a wonderful weekend — I am so happy for my dad, Bigshow, Andre Pienaar, Jarryd November, Wesley Orr from SAKRA and the whole team who put in such a lot of work to make this happen.”
