Not be outdone by its Teuton rival, Volkswagen has already started building a 190kW 580Nm version of its Amarok 3-litre turbodiesel V6 bakkie, clearly in direct response to the reveal of Mercedes-Benz’ 190kW 550Nm turbodiesel 3-litre V6 X 350 d bakkie. The top Volkswagen ups the ante from its previous high of 165kW and 550Nm to deliver 200kW on overboost over short periods, with the more powerful engine set to reach South Africa in Highline and Aventura models next year. 190kW Amaroks will have an eight-speed automatic gearbox  and 4Motion permanent all-wheel drive and will gain new 20-inch alloy wheel designs, new metallic Peacock Green paintwork and a black roof liner.
