Fresh Mitsubishi bakkie in SA next year

We have a soft spot for Mitsubishi’s Triton bakkie — our Best Bakkie 2018 delivers exceptionally at a bargain price and now it’s set tor a great new look that brings sharp, Pajero Sport-like looks complete with HID headlamps, daytime running lamps and fog lights in place of the previous, let’s call it less focussed face.

We’ve already reported on the makeover set for SA early in 2019, and this is how we think the new one will look. Once again powered by Mitsubishi’s gutsy 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine turning a choice of five-speed automatic six-speed manual gearboxes and two and all-wheel drive, we expect the newcomer to carry over all the old one’s existing virtues, only now sharper and even more focussed than ever. All models are expected to bring seven airbags, Electronic Stability,

Trailer-Sway and Electronic Traction Controls and a reversing camera, while the cabin packs a larger touchscreen display and dual-zone climate control. Expect optional features to include l leather seats, heated in front keyless entry.
