Volkswagen South Africa has added more power to the Golf R  to see it up from 213kW to 228kW – the most powerful Golf yet Volkswagen South Africa to now bring R in line with overseas markets. Golf R now also brings benchmark driver assistance systems to improve safety with an optional Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert as well as Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking System. Fresh styling highlights include the optional R Performance Titanium exhaust and R Performance brakes with callipers painted black with the ‘R’ logo, while standard features include R design bumpers, LED headlights and LED taillights. The 228kW 400Nm 2.0 TSI R blasts to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds assisted by a fast-shifting 7-speed DSG with Launch Control. Adaptive chassis control is an optional extra and offers the same Sport HMI feature. The Golf R comes standard with a 5-year/90 000km Service Plan, 3-year/120 000km warranty at R676K.
