Suzuki Katana

Suzuki swings the retro sword

Suzuki will take a step back to the future when this 2020 Suzuki GSX-S1000S Katana hits the road based 80s legend with a modern twist.

Powered by the 111kW 115Nm 999cc four-pot with six-speed box resurrected from the 200 GSX-R1000, new Katana should be fast enough to mix it with most modern open-class streetbikes and teach the rest of the retro classic machines a lesson thanks to a cool blend of modern tech in a bike that stays as true to the original design.  Boasting the likes of a compact subframe and seat atop a lightweight twin-spar aluminum frame with a braced swingarm off the '16 GSX-R1K, wide rear tyre on six-spoke cast aluminum wheel all wrapped in a buffed, musclebike look.

Add a back torque-limiting slipper clutch and three drive modes, start-assist technology, ABS, radial-mount Brembo calipers, 310mm discs, 43mm KYB inverted fork, and adjustable rear shock and a full suite of rider-assist electronics and the new sword should be pretty competent as a trackday or Sabie-run tool too
