Ducati Panigale

Pared-down litre racer set for WSBK

This is the first glimpse of the 2019 Ducati Panigale V4 R, a 1000cc version designed to meet WSBK homologation requirements, and set to form the basis of Ducati’s Superbike racing efforts for the foreseeable future. This particular machine is likely a race spec V4 R rather than the street bike considering its data acquisition, dry clutch, the carbonfibre faring and a lack of lights and mirrors. V4 R will clearly have a new gilled fairing design with openings are farther forward than the single vent on the 1103cc Panigale V4, while a number of mounting points may allow WSBK-legal aerodynamic winglets to be added. Wearing forged magnesium Marchesini M9RS wheels and Brembo brakes Panigale V4 R is said to be set to make its public debut this weekend with demonstration laps at the British Superbike round at Brands Hatch, with the production bike debut set for next month's EICMA show.
