Bullitt

Ford icon celebrates 60s flick

Built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original Ford Mustang in the classic Steve McQueen movie Bullitt, a limited number of the all-new Mustang Bullitt is confirmed for sale in South Africa next year. Packing an upgraded 360kW 580Nm 5-litre V8 for a 260km/h top speed, new Mustang Bullitt gets a rev matching 6-speed manual transmission and white cue ball gear knob in a nod to the original.

The V8 gets an active valve performance exhaust system with NitroPlate black tips for a signature burble, while a new open-air induction system and Shelby GT350 intake manifold deliver optimal performance, classic five spoke heritage 19-inch aluminum wheels and red-painted Brembo brake callipers grabbing larger rotors.

Bullitt only comes in Shadow Black or the original movie car’s classic Dark Highland Green with subtle chrome accents around a unique black honeycomb grille and side windows,  and minimal badging being a Bullitt badge on the decklid. The leather-trimmed interior gets green accent stitching, a heated leather steering wheel and a unique Bullitt 12-inch all-digital LCD instrument cluster.
