ASX gets the Dynamic Shield

Mitsubishi has nipped and tucked its popular ASX compact SUV ahead of its Geneva show reveal next month. The Mazda CX-3 rival gets a fresh front-end design to bring it into line with the SA-bound Eclipse Cross SUV and described as the latest evolution of the firm’s Dynamic Shield face. LED lighting features front and rear, with milder styling tweaks and a new skid plate aft and it now comes in three new colours too. Also expect redesigned larger screen infotainment system with TomTom sat-nav, real-time traffic info and an app system to convey information about the car to your mobile. New safety features include forward collision braking, a blind spot assist and rear cross traffic alert. ASX’s engine range gets re-fettled, with the 2.2-litre diesel dropped, well as part of the European diesel witch hunt anyway, but that could still reach darkest Africa (where this story was generated in the middle of yet another load shedding power failure) alongside an atmo 2-litre four-cylinder four pot mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT box a sports mode that thinks it’s a six-speed.
