Sprinter ready for anyone and everyone

Mercedes Benz promises the new third generation Sprinter can be anything and everything, to everyone. And with increased safety, unrivalled features and greater versatility for all industries, we can’t really argue.

It’s a panel van, people carrier and freight carrier with a high number of variants for numerous industries - taxi, trade, service, logistics, mobile homes and speciality conversions. Locally available in a broad variety of body length, payload, cargo space, roof heights and equipment options, seating configurations also result in it being one of the most versatile large vans, with maximum cargo volumes of up to 15.5 cubic metre and Gross Vehicle Masses to 5.5 tonnes.

Notably, the Sprinter Inkanyezi legacy will no doubt continue to dominate the long-distance taxi market – the new Inkanyezi now available in three different grades with options ranging from three-point safety belts on every seat to USB ports in the rear, a free flow rear air conditioner, rear speakers and much more.

The new Sprinter also raises safety levels through the likes of  Cross Wind Assist Hill Start assistants with a wide list of optional features in one of the safest large vans on South African roads. Among others, included is Distronic Lane Keeping Assist, a reversing camera indicating the image in the rear-view mirror and a Parking Package with 360-degree camera.

Optional Active Distance Assist Distronic automatically regulates the distance from the vehicle ahead, while a rain sensor and wiper with an integrated wet wiper system are also included. Active Brake Assist is however perhaps the most important highlight to warn drivers of oncoming dangers via acoustic or visual warnings.

Powered by the proven 2.2-litre 4-cylinder OM651 turbodiesel in either 84kW 300Nm or 120kW 380Nm trim, or for more demanding work, there’s the 140kW 440Nm 3-litre 6-cylinder OM64. The Sprinter’s engines also have reduced fuel consumption levels, thanks to revised, longer transmission ratios – in fact, the new Sprinter 516 CDI’s fuel consumption is improved by 8.5%.

The new Sprinter is also hard to beat when it comes to variety – which now includes the new 3.49 tonne GVM Sprinter for drivers with a Code 8/Code B licence. Due to licence and weight restrictions it also becomes an important transport and business solution.

New Sprinter’s cabin is perfectly tailored for passenger comforts with features including wireless charging facilities and USB ports for uninterrupted connectivity. The driver's workplace is also designed to meet the relevant transport requirements. Improvements include ergonomically shaped seats, keyless start, enhanced air-conditioning system and various stowage compartments.

Last but not least, the MBUX User Experience multimedia system brings artificial intelligence in two 7 and all-new voice controlled 10.25-inch HD resolution display screen options.

Sprinter is now available for order from Mercedes-Benz Vans dealers at attractive prices.
