A45 AMG Sedan

Mercedes AMG A45s rewrite the record books

Meet the hottest hatch in history! Mercedes-AMG's 415 horsepower (that’s 309kW) second-generation A45 S 4Matic+ brings supercar 3.9 second 0-100km/h acceleration — the first time a hot hatch has ever slipped under four seconds — complete with a mad new Drift mode. A45 will come in both hatchback and new sedan form too.

Powered by the new M139 2-litre four-banger turbo petrol engine that nicks a pile of tech from the brand’s 4-litre biturbo V8, A45 will come in both 288kW 475Nm normal 45 and 309kW 500Nm 45 S models. The hot one gets 2.1 bar turbo boost and water injection to take over the mantle as the world’s most powerful four-cylinder series-production engine.

The standard A45 4Matic gets to 100km/h in 4 seconds with both cars sipping 7.5l/100km and emitting 189g/km while turning an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and multi-plate clutch 4Matic+ four-wheel drive that can send the majority of drive to the rear wheels via that new Drift mode.

Add a new performance brake package, re-engineered variable ratio steering with two software maps, a wider front track and AMG Ride Control adaptive damping as an option; 18-inch wheels and 19s for the S in a stiffened body shell with an aluminium base plate and strut bracing.

A45 AMG is set apart by an AMG Panamericana grille, wider front wings, flared wheel arches and unique bumpers with a prominent tailgate-spoiler and two round tailpipes each side of a twin-channel diffuser.
