Will Husqvarna’s latest tease get real?

Famous for its dirtbikes since 1903, Husqvarna is now making a concerted effort to also establish itself as a streetbike maker with the Svartpilen jiuning its Vitpilen sibling on the range at the Milan EICMA motorcycle show. But that’s not what stole the show on the Husky stand — this is — the Vitpilen 701 Aero Concept — a retro-styled fairing-fitted with a bigger, torquier and more powerful 701 mill in a rider-centric, lightweight and nimble chassis that certainly looks the part - kind of an ultar-stylish Moto3 machine for the road. Packing an 'immaculately constructed round, full colour TFT display shaped to perfectly match the design language of the motorcycle’, Husqvarna was coy on its plans for this one, besides to confirm that Vitpilen 701 and its like challenge its engineers to move in new directions and pioneer a future that embraces the simple thrill of riding a minimalistic yet sophisticated single cylinder motorcycle. Let’s see if it makes production.
